Urban Wellness Physicians was founded by brothers Rehan Shah (CEO) and Dr. Salman Shah (CMO), along with their partner Umar Minhas (COO) — three people who spent years watching the healthcare system prioritize volume over patients, and set out to build something that puts the community first.
Most of their childhoods were spent right here in Brooklyn — school days, summers with their fathers, and everything in between — where they saw early on what healthcare here can feel like: long waits, language barriers, and clinics that never felt like home.
All three came back to build the practice they wished their own families had, right here in Bushwick.
That same story runs through our entire team. Our providers come from ethnic and immigrant backgrounds across New York City, and many of us know firsthand what it's like to juggle work, family, and other responsibilities while trying to stay healthy in a city that doesn't always make that easy. That's why accessibility isn't just a value here — it's personal. We keep our doors open with understanding, without judgment, and without the runaround.
